What changes

What changes in a building materials branch.

Special orders arrive when the framer needs them

Doors, windows and trusses are tracked from the deposit through the vendor acknowledgement to the delivery date, and the site is told the moment a date moves.

Commodity prices are quoted at this week’s number

Lumber and sheet goods reprice from the vendor sheet as it changes, with quote expiry enforced and margin shown at the time of the sale.

Job accounts are read against the draw

Open orders, deliveries, returns and invoices per job, alongside the builder’s draw schedule, so the branch knows which jobs are ahead of their cash and which are behind it.

How it is used

How building materials distributors use Elixir

Six things that happen every week, and what Elixir does with each.

Special orders

Deposit, vendor acknowledgement, expected date and delivery tracked as one thing, with the customer told when a date changes.

Site delivery

Boom and flatbed deliveries grouped by site and window, the lot number and site contact on the ticket, freight charged for the run.

Commodity pricing

Lumber and panel prices from the weekly sheet, quote expiry enforced, margin visible at the counter and in the note.

Job accounts and draws

Each job’s orders and invoices read against the builder’s draw schedule, so the credit decision is made before the next load.

Yard inventory

Units, tallies and partial bundles counted the way the yard actually stores them, with aged stock named by bay.

Returns and restocking

Site returns matched to the original ticket, restock charged consistently, and returned units back in the count the same day.

Common questions

What building materials distributors ask us

Ask us something else ↗
Our tallies and units are messy. Can it cope?

Yes. Units, pieces and board feet are all kept, and the yard counts in whatever it counts in. The system does the conversion.

How does it know a vendor date moved?

It reads the acknowledgements and updates as they arrive by email or portal, and compares them with the date the customer was promised.

Can builders see their job accounts?

Once you trust the numbers, a simple job page for the builder’s office is available. Most yards begin with the branch and the outside sales team only.

Does it price from our vendor’s weekly sheet?

It reads the sheet or the price file the day it lands and reprices the commodity items you tell it to, with a record of what changed and when.

Other kinds of distribution

The same system, set up for how your branch trades.

Every trade runs on different numbers, so there is a page for each.
