Foodservice & beverage distribution

Short dates, short weights.Read before they cost you.

Lots that expire, catch weights that never match the order, and a driver who settles the route in cash. Elixir keeps the dates, the weights and the routes straight.

What changes

What changes in a foodservice & beverage branch.

Short-dated stock is sold before it is written off

Lots and expiry dates are read at receiving and followed through the pick, so the note names what must move this week and which customers buy it.

Routes settle without an argument

Deliveries, credits, returns and payments per stop are reconciled as the driver closes the day, and the exceptions are named rather than hunted.

Catch weights invoice correctly the first time

Ordered quantity, shipped weight and invoiced amount agree, so credits fall and the customer’s AP stops holding the whole invoice for one line.

Morning noteThu 12 Mar
Depot · Routes 1–6
Lots expiring within 10 d
$14,300
Route credits yesterday

Route 4’s credits are all short-weights on two proteins. The vendor changed pack sizes on the 1st and the item file did not.
How it is used

How foodservice & beverage distributors use Elixir

Six things that happen every week, and what Elixir does with each.

Lots and expiry

First-expiry picking, lots followed from receiving to invoice, and short-dated stock named with the customers most likely to take it.

Route settlement

Every stop’s deliveries, credits and payments reconciled as the route closes, with the exceptions listed for the office.

Catch weights

Ordered quantity, shipped weight and price agree on the invoice, so credits fall and payment is not held for one line.

Weekly vendor prices

Price changes applied to the item file the day they arrive and reflected in the customer’s price the next morning, with margin shown.

Deposits and vendor programs

Keg and container deposits, growth incentives and promotional funds tracked against the movement as it happens.

Cash by route

Days to pay by account and by route, so the driver knows which stop needs a cheque and the office knows which route carries the risk.

Common questions

What foodservice & beverage distributors ask us

Ask us something else ↗
We run route accounting on handhelds. Does Elixir replace them?

No. It reads what the handhelds produce and reconciles it against orders, invoices and payments. The driver’s day does not change; the office’s afternoon does.

How does it handle catch weights and pack changes?

Shipped weights are read from the pick, and vendor pack changes update the item file when the vendor file changes, so the invoice and the customer’s order match the first time.

Can it do first-expiry picking?

Yes. Lots and dates are read at receiving and the pick ticket asks for the earliest date, with the exceptions recorded when a picker takes a different lot.

We are a beverage distributor with deposits and depletion reporting. Does it fit?

Deposits, depletion and supplier programs are all movements of stock and money, which is exactly what Elixir reads. Send us an outline of what you report and to whom, and we will confirm what fits before any commitment.
